The Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) is the third largest school district in California, educating 86,000 students in 93 public schools in the cities of Long Beach, Lakewood, Signal Hill, and Avalon on Catalina Island. It serves the most diverse large city in the United States. LBUSD has earned a reputation as one of America’s finest school systems, winning many awards as a national model of excellence. LBUSD was named a national winner of the Broad Prize for Urban Education, recognizing America’s best urban school system for increasing stu-dent achievement.
Technology Partners
Cybertek has a long-standing relationship with LBUSD, dating back to E-rate FY2000. As this re-lationship has grown, so have the size and scope of the projects. For over 20 years, Cybertek has successfully supported the technology needs of the district.
- Since 2001, Cybertek has provided comprehensive support to the LBUSD network, with an install base of over 1,000 devices.
- Cybertek installed and supports the district’s firewall.
- E-rate FY2017-2018 – Cybertek was awarded a contract to upgrade the core network infrastructure at 81 sites throughout the district to a 10Gig standard.
- E-rate FY2017-2018 – Cybertek was awarded a contract to upgrade the core UPS at 92 sites throughout the district.
- Cybertek upgraded LBUSD’s SAN to a new Nimble unit with no downtime or data loss.
Success into the Future
Cybertek continues to support thousands of devices. Cybertek has been invited by the district’s Facilities Branch to assist them with the design and implementation of new and rehabilitation projects in support of the district’s Technology Master Plan.
